Pregnancy and Grad School have some distinct similarities. Both are full of delayed gratification: months (or years) of work to get a finished product. Both produce nausea, heartburn and exhaustion. Both require you tricking yourself into thinking it will be more fun/enjoyable that it really is on a day to day basis. Both, if you are successful, result in greater amounts of work and stress in your life. Neither results in greater wealth.
I imagine that advisors and newborns have some distinct similarities too, and will let you know.
